Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr on Wednesday announced she is donating temporary space in an under-utilized city building to the Dads Making a Difference organization so participants can continue their work during the winter months.
The building, located at the city landfill, stands mostly empty and is large enough for participants in the training-to-work program to build sheds for Habitat for Humanity.
Orr said she was aware of the building when touring the landfill facility during the mayoral campaign. When she heard of the Dads Making a Difference program’s need for space, she asked the director of the Public Works department if the city could make it available.
“Dads Making a Difference is a wonderful organization,” Orr said. “With an 85% graduation rate, the city really benefits from this program. It’s important that the city and the state work together and this is a good example of that.”
The Dads Making a Difference program is run by the State of Wyoming.
